AP – Former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, embroiled in a broadening corruption scandal, jumped to his death while hiking in the mountains behind his rural southern home, his lawyer said. He was 62. -
Obama vows not to send people to war without cause (AP)
AP – President Barack Obama promised graduating midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday that, as their commander in chief, he will only send them “into harm’s way when it is absolutely necessary.” In his first address to military graduates, Obama also pledged to invest in the men and women who defend America’s liberty, not just in the weapons they would take with them into battle against 21st century threats. -
Obama “confident” GM can thrive after restructuring (Reuters)
Reuters – U.S. President Barack Obama said in an interview released on Saturday he was confident General Motors would thrive after restructuring, but he made no mention whether the ailing automaker might have to enter bankruptcy to complete reorganization.
