AP – The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down. McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama’s character, he described the Democrat as a “decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.” -

AP – A federal appeals court sided with Ohio’s top elections official Friday in her running battle with Republicans over how to verify the eligibility of newly registered voters.

Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. -

President Bush on Saturday said, “I’m confident that the world’s major economies can overcome the challenges we face. There have been moments of crisis in the past when powerful nations turned their energies against each other, or sought to wall themselves off from the world. This time is different. The leaders gathered in Washington this weekend are all working toward the same goals. We will stand together in addressing this threat to our prosperity. We will do what it takes to resolve this crisis. And the world’s economy will emerge stronger as a result.”

Palin says report says she acted lawfully (Reuters)
Reuters – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin acted “within proper and lawful authority” in removing the state’s public safety commissioner, the McCain-Palin Republican presidential ticket said on Friday in response to a state report.
