Today, President Bush visited the Center for the Intrepid at Brooke
Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The Center for the
Intrepid, built thanks to the generosity of more than 600,000
Americans, is a world-class physical rehabilitation facility focused
on medical and rehabilitative care of wounded warriors and veterans,
injured in service to America. The facilities include a military
performance lab, a pool, an indoor running track, a two-story climbing
wall, and a prosthetics center. -

On Thursday, President Bush said, “This center was funded entirely by contributions of more than 600,000 Americans through what’s called the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. This center is a tribute to the generosity of the American people. Make no mistake about it, the American people support the men and women who wear our nation’s uniform. This center is a testament to our deep belief that someone wounded in the defense of America needs all the help he or she can get. The servicemen and women here have borne the burdens of battle. They have kept our country safe. We honor them and their families by helping them with all we can.”

Fact Sheet: In Case Congress Doesn’t Quickly Pass An AMT Patch: Failure to Act Could Result in $75 Billion of Delayed Refunds
If a patch does not reach the President’s desk until after
Thanksgiving, as many as 50 million taxpayers could face delays in the
processing of their returns, and $75 billion in refund checks could be
delayed. This would amount to forcing American taxpayers to extend a
$75 billion no-interest loan to the IRS. -
